Tony Hadley in radio marathon for National Photography Month
To mark the beginning of National Photography Month, which launched on the 1st June, Tony Hadley, Spandau Ballet's front man and the face of National Photography Month appeared on 16 different BBC local Radio shows across the UK to talk about his love of photography and why he is supporting National Photography Month's campaign to 'Capture and Keep' your favourite photographs.
Tony began his string of radio appearances on BBC Derby where he spoke to presenter Andy, then throughout the day featured on BBC stations including Leicester, Sheffield and Bristol, finishing on BBC Kent with presenter Pat.
Tony's radio interviews will be followed by upcoming press coverage in the Telegraph, Sunday Express and Daily Mail Weekend.
Speaking to Presenter David White on BBC Cornwall, Hadley said: "With digital technology, more and more people are keeping their images on their computers and cameras and accidently erasing them, so we're basically erasing history. We need to encourage people to take the picture, get it printed, and put it up on their mantel piece."
National Photography Month (www.nationalphotographymonth.co.uk) was launched as a result of new research which shows that our treasured photographs are at risk and the traditional family album is in decline; 77% of people now don't make albums because they think it would be too time consuming.
Nigel McNaught, spokesmen for the National Photography Month campaign, expressed his appreciation to Tony by saying: "We are delighted that Tony has jumped head-first into this important cause. Being a subject that is already close to his heart, Tony was the obvious choice when choosing a public figure to represent our campaign."
